Mad Hatter!

Okay, so I'm getting a little bit excited about making bags and hats. I made this hat today, with left over fabric from Rachel's "Margaret Bag". To make things more exciting I have added some yoyos to the side. The pattern is Nicole Mallalieu's Kids Hats pattern.

The fabric is West 22nd Modern Dot as the main fabric. The Lining and one of the yoyos is West 22nd Candy Dot. The other yoyo is West 22nd Floral Delight. The fabric covered buttons are also covered with Floral Delight. I purchased all fabrics at Spotlight.

Way easier the second time around.

Margaret Bag #2

Well, here's my second go at the Margaret Bag. I did the cross-over version with the longer strap this time. The fabric is gorgeous! I pointed out a few random fabrics that I really liked to Paige, and out of them she chose this one. I think I ended up buying the other fabrics anyway.

I did the top-stitching with matching thread this time, rather than contrasting, as the fabric is rather busy. So red on red and black on black. When I top-stitched the outside of the bag, I used black on the bobbin so it was still red on red and black on black.

Paige also chose the button out of my stash. I like the choice she made, although I think it would have been better if it was larger.

Stitches & Craft Show

On Wednesday March 11, Mum, myself and the boys went to the Stitches and Craft Show. The boys were very well behaved for such a big day out, and I got myself a few bits and pieces while I was there.

I managed to buy myself this hat
pattern from Nicole Mallalieu. I have made one hat so far and have lots of plans for more. This hat is a nice girlie one, that I made from fabric leftover from cutting out Paige's "Margaret Bag". I have given it to my friend's little girl, Lilly.

The fabric is a Fabric Innovations screen print that I got from Spotlight.

Paige's bag is still half completed, I had only cut it out when I started on the hat. The leftovers from the bag I made for Rachel are also destined to become another hat, which will also be given away as the fabric is more suited for a girl. Don't worry, I have plans to make hats for my own kids too, just wait and see...

Margaret Sling Bag

The March Challenge on Essential Baby was to make the Margaret Sling Bag.

The bag was designed by Elizabeth Hartman - her blog is: Oh Fransson! I think I will be watching this blog - she has some wonderful stuff!

The tutorial for the Margaret Bag can be found here

Here is my effort. I made this for my friend Rachel's birthday. The fabric is from the range West 22nd that I bought from Spotlight. The outer fabric is modern dot, and the lining is candy dot.

I did the inside pockets with some of the "Modern Dot" fabric.
