It went zip when it moved....

...and bop when it stopped and whir when it stood still. I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will. The lyrics to Marvellous Toy were stuck in my head when I was up late last night working on my disco-bot, as were "uh, uh, uh, uh Stayin' Aliiiiiive" (thanks to Jodie) and "I was made for Loving you Baby" (well he does look a little like Paul Stanley, don't you think?). I finished him around two o'clock this afternoon.

The consensus from my last post was to keep the black stars. I also got lots of comments on his legs. The fabric for his legs is actually the same as the fabric for his arms. It's pretty awesome fabric, because it is double sided. Stars on one side and robots on the other. I got it from This and That From Japan. I did (and still do) have other plans for this fabric, but it was perfect for this project and I used so little fabric, I still can do what I originally planned.

I made his eyes using resin snaps, and because they were a fair bit bigger than what Jodie had used for hers, I went with the star eye patch instead of the original circle. One of my favourite bits is the heart on his chest panel. Also, instead of using cord, or a shoelace, I made my antennae out of some felt and piping cord that I made into rouleau.

Oh, and something really cool is that he can stand up all by himself! This was a very rewarding little project.
