Noah's New Hat!

I literally had to chase Noah all around the back yard to take this photo. Here he is peeping out through the apple tree. I love the structure the pinwale cord gives this hat. I made the binding myself using the Trefle, it was a little short, so I unpicked, trimmed and re-stitched. I used the medium-heavy woven interfacing from Nicole Mallalieu Designs, and placed two layers on the upper brim. It's a little big, but I know it won't be by the end of summer.

Lining Fabric: Trefle by Kokka, purchased from Retro Mummy
Main Fabric: Brown Pinwale Cord purchased from Lincraft (online)
Embroidery: Radical Robots, purchased from Embroidery Library (I chose different colours to suit my fabric)

  1. So cute, both the hat and the photo, well worth the chase round the backyard lol. You are a big fan of Nicole Mallalieu aren't you! I have one of her bag patterns here but haven't started it yet.

  3. It just doesn't seem right that after all that effort, the lucky hat recipient wont strike a pose for his mumma!

The hat is great Carmel. The fabrics you chose are super cute and very boyish. And this is just another of Nikki's fab patterns.

  4. The hat looks great! I love the embroidery, I would love an embroidery machine but I don't have the space for it.
